The phrase shabby chic is typically a method of interior design for furniture. Working to achieve the looks of wear and tear to give the furniture an antique appearance.
To distinguish the shabby chic furnishings from genuine period décor it is often given a soft, rich, yet cottage style.
The style of shabby chic used in home furnishings today is antique and vintage, trying to use the original aged paint or painted a pastel paint (usually white). Ordinarily sanded at the corners to allow a distressed look. A percentage of most popular pieces are jelly cupboards and pie safes.
Gentle neutral colours like rose pink, sky blue and beige shades are used as well as ivory to give the shabby chic look and feel. To give the true shabby chic look to an interior taste are taken from a lot of French styling such as Rococo lighting and wood wall paneling.
The aesthetical look and feel can also be used for garden work using related design executions of worn furniture with feminine components. Roses are effective in all shabby chic designs.
Throughout the home some of the most preferred design points are vintage pillows, bedspreads, chandeliers and just about anything with roses on it. Shabby Chic is certainly a type of Feng Shui, giving a peaceful, soft and feminine feel. A very loving way of decorating making people choose to come in and relax, because of this it can also be known as the cottage feel.
